I heard someone talk about how re-writing one verse of scripture a day really helped get God's Word into their hearts. I figured 'hey, that's not to difficult - I'd like to try that.' and I did. It has now become a regular discipline and an incredible source of encouragement to me. I find that God speaks to me regularly through many of these scriptures that I rewrite in my own words. Personally it has been one of the most amazing and simple spiritual disciplines I've come across.
Change comes through doing something consistently. In order to do something consistent you really have to keep it 'doable' and also enjoy it. Rewriting a verse a day takes just a few minutes - it is very doable, and it is a very enjoyable discipline. |

Ezekiel 11:19 - Thursday, July 29, 2010
I will give them hearts that are 100% focused in knowing Me - that will be their passion - I will put a whole new set of motivations, and new ways of thinking in them. I will remove their insensitive, calloused, stubborn hearts and give them kind, compassionate, caring and responsive hearts.

Ps 54:4 - Wednesday, July 28, 2010
For certain God can be trusted because He is the one who helps me - He keeps me from giving up when things are just too difficult, He keeps me from throwing in the towel and He gives me the strength to carry on and He gives me new hope in the midst of it all.

! Cor 13:3 - Monday, July 26, 2010
Even if I take a really radical step in my life of literally giving away and selling pretty much everything and then I take the money from that sale, including my IRA, my 401K, my savings and give it all to several churches and non-profits to help kids and people in real need - and then I am willing to go and work in a high risk country - if I do all this (showing great love for God), but don't genuinely love those immediately around me - if I remain selfish, grumpy, irritable, defensive, standing up for my rights, impatient, rude and so on - then the whole thing is a big charade - a waste of time really

Ps 55:22 - Saturday, July 24, 2010
Whatever is bothering you, and causing you anxiety and even emotional pain, take all of it and throw it at the Lord's feet and let go of it. He will then infuse you with the strength to carry on and see breakthroughs. Don't worry about being defeated by this because you are His, and because you have been made right with God and are walking in His ways, he won't let you fall - he just won't allow it.

Ps 51:7 - Friday, July 23, 2010
Lord, just like a physical detoxing, do an inner detoxification on my inner being and spirit - just like hyssop cleanses so too cleanse my conscience, my mind, my thoughts, my memories - wash and cleanse and thoroughly detoxify everything toxic and unclean in me and afterward I will be so cleaned up just like, or even whiter than snow freshly fallen

Ps 50:23 - Wednesday, July 21, 2010
The person who goes out of his way to somehow express gratitude for all I've done, whether it is through praise or sacrificing your time to do so, or even in the act of giving generously as a way of thanking Me, really is recognizing Me for who I am and that I am God - they honor Me in doing this and as a result that person has put their heart in such a good place and opened up a way spiritually so that I can show them My saving power and what My salvation is all about

Ps 48:14 - Wednesday, July 21, 2010
God is the one we adore and worship alone - He is the One we've always waited for, He is our God and as we go through the trials and difficulties of this life, one constant will be true - He will direct our paths, He will navigate us through everything we go through and He will always guide us safely.
